March 10th

(Nick) This has been the biggest gap in our training thus far. Finals and the CPE took place over the last week and so our running had to be sacrificed. V and I both graduated nursing school yesterday! Yay for us! :)

So now that schools over and NCLEX is all we have left we can focus a bit more on our running again. Our race is exactly a week away and its become evident that the two weeks we've taken off have set us back a little.

We met up this morning at the park at 9am to run the full anthem course, something we've been wanting to do for awhile. The weather has been awful the past couple days, but today was sooo nice! High in the upper 60's with a light cool breeze. My body felt great, having taken off for so long gave my body a much needed rest and for the first time in a awhile nothing was sore. We ran today with no music, no gps, no time frame in mind at all. V made the comment later that it was extremely peaceful running with nothing in mind other than just running. No time frames, or speed goals, no music to distract, just us and the road. It was a magnificent run, something the both of us have been looking forward to and needed after all the stress over the past couple weeks.

V duct taped her foot and ended up without any blisters! A major improvement! We both feel pretty sore now after not running for so long but hopefully recovery will come quick.

(V)- Nick summed it up so well. I loved this last run. Running's been put on the back burner for a couple of weeks but its back to becoming a priority for me and today I was reminded how much I want to progress. Just 6 months ago, I would never have thought of southern highlands as an "easy 9 miles." so I kept that in mind when we were doing the hilly course of anthem. here we are- a week away from our second half marathon! Even though I know we haven't put in the work needed for the best run, I am really looking forward to it. -get some bling at the end and a couple good pics. Most of all, I'm looking forward to allowing this hobby to take me further. As I was reminded in our peaceful run, it's treated me well so far.
