May 16th

(Vanessa) somewhere in conversation over the last week I agreed to a 15 mile run with nick this morning. And even worse, I agreed to get up at 4:45 to meet him at 5:30 for the longest run to date. I would have rather clawed my own eyes out than carry out this commitment this morning but I got up and after a final text to make sure this was really happening, I headed to RRR to what I was sure would be my death. Getting started was hard but the I felt pretty good mile 1-5 until we got to a part where we stopped and decided to hike through the desert to continue on. We had only been running for an hour but it was already pretty hot and nick pointed down horizon ridge as the route. looked like there was not one inch of shade and we would be running another 2.5 miles parallel to the freeway and facing the sun. I wanted nothing more than to go the other direction. My water bottle was empty and my playlist was way too short. With studying, I have not found the time to change it up like I usually do and there is just so many times one can listen to "boys speak in rhythm and girls just lie.. Dadadada". The problem with running at 7am is that if you are used to pooping at 7 am, then you've got some problems because you can't do both. Anyway, I was super grumpy today and I apologize. I took a nap and life seemed much more tolerable. After it's all done- 10 miles is still 10 miles- even though it wasn't the 15, we put miles in this week and hopefully we can make it count on race day.

(Nick) I was really looking forward to this run as our last run got cut short due to eating to close to run time and this was a new course and a new distance for us. It got hot really early on even tho we started really early. I was pretty bugged when V said she wanted to head back and not continue on up horizon ridge, but now that I know she had something trying to burst out of her rectum I can appreciate her putting in the distance she did. Ive never been this sore before. My right foot gets getting these burning ripping pain in it. My shins are really messed up. Still contemplating on whether or not to run one last time on Saturday or just rest up for the race. :/

May 12th (LV 5K)

(Nick) This race was really a challenge. I started out way too fast and by the one mile marker I was spent, reduced to walking. Started up again to the 2 mile mark and saw V running up towards the turn around. At that point I figured any chance I had of a decent time was lost and I would have more fun running with V. So i ran backwards toward her, getting a lot of funny looks from the other racers in the process. We finished the last 1.5 together. It was really freaking hot out today. Just really felt dehydrated and out of shape. Have the worst allergies right now!
(Vanessa)- felt dehydrated before the start and that really freaked me out. I began questioning the point of running with 2000 people and no water down a black pavement. I seized those thoughts for 1.5 miles but shortly after running around the las Vegas sign I was so hot and tired and was relieved to see nick wanted to run the rest with me. It gave me the little motivation I needed to make it to the finish line and straight to the smart water. Nick was fascinated with the two Arizona runners that placed. Still waiting 4 days later for pictures to post. :/

May 8th

(Nick) found out today that my Saturday run with RRRC is being cancelled due to the Las Vegas 5k that's taking place this Saturday. I told V this morning and she suggested we do it and went ahead and signed us up!!! :)

May 7th

(vanessa)- Wind was supposed to die down at 8:00pm and had plans to run anthem. At 8:01 it was still windy so nick headed out on his own and I went to the gym to get on the treadmill. I haven't been on a treadmill in several months and held a 8:30 pace for two miles and that is quite an improvement from where I used to be. I played around on the treadmill for a total of 4 miles. Definitely was not as entertaining as road running. talked to nick afterward to find out that the wind had stopped as soon as he started. Oooohh and I have a lingering pain I my shin from my last run and felt it on the treadmill. I've never had shin splints before but I'm pretty sure this is it. Felt it every time I stepped down.

(Nick) You know you have a great running partner when you show up to run and they have a stash of cough drops in their car just for you, as well as a stockpile of water! Finally got around to doing my favorite course at night and it sure didn't disappoint! My body felt like crap from the beating I took Thursday night and Saturday morning, my left calf feels like its been in tetany for two days now and my right hip keeps getting these shooting pains out of no where, even when I'm just sitting down. The wind has been blowing all day and it showed that it would die down from 8-10, still was a little windy at 8 but I took to the streets anyway excited for a night version of anthem. Started out slow as my body just wanted a nice pace to stretch itself out. My gps feedback has been off since Thursday and no feedback encouraged a nice steady pace. I got to the beginning uphill and started to pick it up a little. It feels kinda pointless to run by myself and not have my breathing a little labored. I enjoyed the first two miles immensely, the hills are really fun for me. The downhill of Hampton was awful, every single step just tore my poor calves to pieces, I couldn't wait for it to finally end. However there was a great lightning show in the distance which distracted me from the pain somewhat. Once I hit the 5 mile mark where the course opens up to a view of Seven Hills I caught myself considering slowing down and walking the rest. The same thing happened on saturday around the 6 mile mark. Preventing those kind of thoughts from reappearing is a must! I pushed on through and ended up completing anthem for the first time in under an hour. I felt really strong at the end and you can see from the gps that I was in the 6:30 range. These last three runs have been wonderful! I've really seen some nice progression and my body hurts enough to let me know it hasn't been easy. Some things I want to work on before race day:

Nutrition- its always a problem for me and something that will always be a work in progress, but I do plan on doing some serious carb loading the week before the race.

Water- it was such a must during Six Tunnels, and tonight I felt the dehydration in my lungs and it was such a struggle to get the water down while breathing so hard. I felt like an idiot, splashing it all over my face and barely getting any in my system, running while drinking needs to be addressed. I also planned on consuming some energy gels during this next race and if I can't get water down how am I supposed to eat? Practice on both of those!

Music- my running playlist, derived from my Pandora is pretty much played out. I ran to a new song tonight and still have Ellie Goulding keeping me going but need some new stuff for the race!

May 5th

(Nick) My alarm went off at 5:45 and I really didn't want to get out of bed. I looked outside and it looked windy and that made getting out of bed even harder. But with with only a couple weeks of training left I figured I better make the best of my time and dragged myself out of bed and into the car and headed towards RRRC.

Got there at 6:20 and Brent was the only one there so far. He mentioned today was gonna be rough, Jason, Jeff and Colin were coming today. The three of them all placed within the top 25 for the las Vegas 5k last year.

Started out great feeling really strong, even set the pace for much of the first half. Somewhere around the 6 mile mark I noticed I was getting tired. Jason mentioned that I was doing really well today and that boosted my confidence up and I was able to hold on a little longer than usual. Brent and Jeff dropped out around 7 and for the first time ever I was in the lead pack. Held on for 8.85 before I had to stop and slow it down for the remainder. Had a good time and feel really good after this run.

(Vanessa)- ran at dusk. It's my favorite part of the day, also when I seem to have the most energy. Today it paid off- as I finally beat my 5k. Felt pretty good. This course leaves me about 2 miles from my house at the end of my 5k course and usually that kills me but tonight i still had the energy to do a little speed work on the way home.

May 3rd

25 Days till Race Day!

Tonight was an unexpected run. Haven't run since the 11 miles V and I did on Monday. I was feeling really stiff tonight at work and decided that I needed to get back out and run a little to loosen things up. I hadn't hydrated at all (full coffee diet) but didn't consider it a factor as I just wanted to go a few miles at a slow pace to loosen things up a bit.

I went home and loaded my old killers playlist that I used to run to a couple years ago, got in the car and drove to the summerlin 5k course. I turned off voice feedback on my gps so I wouldn't be tempted at all to push it. I started out nice and slow and felt wonderful listening to some old stuff I hadn't heard in a long time while enjoying the cool darkness of summerlin at midnight. After I passed the hardest part of the course (the beginning uphill) I noticed that I felt really strong and decided to try and push it just enough that my breathing wasn't too labored. I noticed that my pace felt pretty quick, much like it did the last couple weeks while running at boulder, and thought that this might be my chance to break my 5k. I just kept pushing, had no idea what kind of pace I was on with me starting so slow but I just kept going. I knew the course was almost exactly a 5k and pulled my phone out to see that it was right at the 3.11 mark. I ended my workout and Ellie Goulding alerted me that I had broken my 5k record! :)

Shaved off exactly 30 seconds on one of the hardest 5k courses we train on. I feel really great after this run, sucks that V wasn't around to share it with me.

April 30th

(nick) Met up with V at the park to take on an extended version of anthem. We dropped some water off at the 5 mile mark (ok it was 6) then headed off on the usual run. We started at 8:30 and the weather was still nice out. At the 6 mile mark we followed a path that led us into Seven Hills. It was pretty cool combining two run that I really enjoy. At the 9.5 mark V realized that she didn't have her key with her and we began to panic. We kinda jogged/walked the rest of the way back to the car to find it unlocked with her key in the back seat (thank god!). I had a ton of fun on this course! Definitely one of my favorites!
(Vanessa)- Nick summed up really well. This run was long and fun. Cut a mile short because of my panic from leaving my keys in the car. My feet were really not used to such a long run and the blisters that were healed, have resurfaced and are really painful tonight.

April 28th

(Nick) Woke up and decided that Anthem needed some attention. Met with V out there around 9. Yesterday really beat up both of us so we stuck to a slow pace and enjoyed the old course and put in 7 miles. This course always makes me happy.
(Vanessa)- Anthem was a great- as usual. The park we meet at is extremely busy with soccer games on the weekends. Once you get away from all of that though, it's one of the more peaceful routes and the view coming down Hampton makes me really happy. I wanted to compare this mornings run to the many runs here is a few older runs:

April 27th

(Nick) went out to six tunnels, I feel really out of shape, probably the worst since starting the training for these marathons. Its become too difficult to go even three miles without stopping now. Seems like everyday I get worse.

April 26th

Met at southern highlands. Was really annoyed at how hard this run was. Because this route has always been our easier run. But today my legs felt like weights. It's building up inside me. Each time I attempt my 5k record and don't make it, I feel worse than the last attempt. It sucks. Tomorrow we are running at my favorite course- six tunnels and I'm hoping it'll give me that little bit of confidence that's been slipping away.

April 22nd

(Vanessa) ran in seven hills. It was so hot even at 9am. Decided to run the loop. It's a little shy of 3 miles and pretty hilly so it was kinda hard to keep a good pace. The good thing is that there was some shade. The bad is that the trees and plants around us are all in bloom and my nose was on fire. I got a little taste of this yesterday so I brought tissues. Nick reminded me that this route was too short for us and I am thinking of ways to make it longer. The route I did yesterday didn't have the shade that we needed at 10 o'clock to make it a 10k I'm going to try to sleep earlier. And put an effort to run earlier because this 9 o'clock stuff isn't the greatest. Overall, the run started out kinda slow because of being hot/tired/hungry but it ended up being a pretty good run.

(Nick) Vanessa was mrs winey pants this morning, not too much of a morning person. This run was filled with overwhelming smells from the plants. The course was very fun with lots of elevation changes. Just way to short, by the time I got warmed up it was already over.

April 21st

(V) This morning I decided to explore seven hills and found a few routes that I am excited to try out and show Nick. So close to my house- reminded me of anthem. The one I ran today was shorter than I expected and was out and back, which generally makes me lose my concentration. As I headed out, I saw a sign that pointed in the direction that I was already going and read: Pat's run. I imagined Pat making these signs on his computer and posting them for his friends that he plays gin rummy with on the weekends, that were just getting into running. Pat seemed to know where he was going so I followed the rest of the signs and it led me through two more parks and along the henderson airport. along the way, there were paths that forked off into the unknown. Super tempting but I stayed on pat's run. I came to another park that led to three communities and they each had a lock so that was the end. I was hoping Pat would lead me back onto seven hills parkway but I had to turn around and run back the way I came. There were a ton of people out. This trail was no secret. Everyone was walking their dogs and jogging and wearing light colored clothes that looked comfortable and I looked like an outsider: no music, in all black, with a black watch and black hat, over heating. there were two boys that looked about 8 running together probably to the next park over and one of their shirts read, "Love, Peace & crabs." It was probably from joe's crab shack or something. As I was losing my momentum, I saw real runners coming my way and I figured I better conduct myself so I got a little taller and looked hecka focused so I didnt have to make eye contact. But then I saw that there was many more of them, all in red. RUNNING TEAM- FUCK. some were wearing football gear. GYM CLASS- WHEW. and as I passed them I read their shirts that read "Pat's Run" and realized Pat had died. and they were running in his honor. As I approached the end of my run there was a nice finish line that I'd be crossing and a banner that I had to run under. On either side of the sidewalk there were lawn chairs and people waiting to cheer on Pat's runners. It would have been very obvious to just bee-line into the glass and around this so I continued through to the finish line. First place.

(Nick) went out to RRRC for my Saturday morning buttkicking. I felt like I was in good shape for the run and was happy to see that Jason from last week was setting the pace. This one was really gonna work me. The run did not go great at all. At the 2 mile mark right at the light to cross Stephanie my legs just gave out. It was so frustrating and embarrassing to have to call it quits so early into the run. I wanted to jog back and get to my car as quickly as possible but my legs wernt moving any faster than a brisk walk.

I can't help but think that all the speed sessions this week have really put a beating on my body. Usually the longer runs hurt. But after this week of short sprints my legs feel like sand bags. There's always next week to redeem myself.

April 20th

(Vanessa)- met up at 8 and headed to boulder. Didn't get on the course until 9 and it was already super hot out. Nick went back to the car for his cough drop and I headed out for my fastest 5k. I was trying to pace myself and felt alright after nick handed me off my water as he passed but I quickly got so hot. I poured the water on myself but at 2.5 I was dying. I didn't charge the gps watch that nick got me and still have yet to put any miles on it. It wasn't a bad run though- I had a nice even pace up until I stopped and my phone said I was running at a 9.11 pace, so I would have stomped my 5k but it's alright. I'm glad to know the course is there.

April 16th

(Nick) the last few days have been horrible weather wise, overcast with tons of wind. But the days off gave my legs a much needed rest for today's run. Went out to boulder city, didn't really have a certain distance in mind, didn't really have a solid course in mind either. I walked around and noticed a section going out towards the lake, on the opposite side of six tunnels. I watched some cyclists come and go and thought it would be nice to change it up and try something new. I then decided trying to break my 5k would be nice since my strength was back and nothing was sore. After the 0.5 mark gps alerted me of a 6 min flat pace, I made a snap decision and decided to try and break my 1 mile record. Shaved 16 seconds off and finally got into the sub 6 minute club (if there is such a thing).

It was really hot out today and instead of continuing on further I decided to double back to the car to get some fluids. I rehydrated and decided to try my 5k. Made it 1.7 at a 6:22 pace before my stomach decided to void what was inside all over the sidewalk. I was pissed! My legs wernt overly tired, my breathing was still somewhat under control but my stomach just wasn't having it. I jogged back to the car content that I still got a 5:51 mile out of the day. It sure is warming up now and it's gonna be a whole new game trying to stay hydrated. Still need to work on my nutrition and carb loading.

April 12th

(Vanessa) I did not try my hardest today. I feel permanently tired from this training but I know that two days off in a row is not good. I showed up -fashionably late- and we ran four miles. I didn't have energy for pick ups. So the pace wasn't good.

(Nick) the run today was fun, sunny with a cool breeze. Did 2 miles at a 10:30 pace which isn't as bad as Vanessa makes it sound. She's been working her ass off all week and I forced her to work hard and she didn't disappoint. The last 2.5 we tried some intervals which left me pretty tired by the end of it. It was a good runnin for me. V should be really proud of the work she put in this week, I know I am.

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

April 10th

(Nick) went to the summerlin 5k loop today with V. The course is hard. The first half is all uphill and wears you out quick. We opted to do intervals on the second half. Just 5k today.

Monday, April 9, 2012

April 9th

(Vanessa) Went out to southern highlands to beat 5k. Started off too fast. Felt great up until about 2.5 miles in and then my pace went downhill fast. I did beat my current record by 2 seconds. 30:47. Looking to get it under 30 minutes.
Each time I attempt this 5k, I have this disappointment that I wish I could shake. The kind you wish your running partner didn't have to see. But it's real and it's really ugly. Maybe because I know I can do better, I have seen little sprinkles of progression and want to be better than the records show. I'd like to say I am doing my best. I'm not always. Today I think I did. Overall, I haven't put in the workouts to get better. 3x a week need to be more like 5x. I am left wondering a few things: Should I add more speed sessions? Are speed sessions how ever fast I think is my fastest for how ever long I feel I can go? how do they differ from what I just did for 2.5 miles? supposed to try every day until I see it? Does one great run downhill really constitute progression if it breaks a record? Annnnd If so, then am I slowly finding every downhill route and feel like signing up for every downhill half to build my self esteem and PR?
Now that allergy season has made its presence known, I am learning that I should stay off sandy ridge and grassy areas and stay somewhere open. Anyway ending with a positive- I've got good knees and feet now, and want to take advantage of it. It came to my attention that I am only 6 months into my 10 year running career so I have time to work through these obstacles so i feel okay at the end of the day. I honestly cannot wait to do it again. So addicted right now.

April 7th

(Nick) New shoes, new shorts, new 5k and 10k PR, and new distance record.

Put on my new shoes and shorts and headed down to green valley to RRRC for the group run. Three new people there this time and they were amazing runners. Pace was set at 7:12 and by 6.25 I knew I had beaten my 10k record. By 6.5 the group started to pull away. I just couldn't maintain. Ended up finishing strong although I got disoriented at the end and went the wrong way to the finish. Still very happy completing 10 miles in 75 minutes.

Drove straight to anthem to meet up with Vanessa for another 7 miles. She brought me a banana and shared her delicious coconut water with me! (so gross) I refueled then we headed off for a pleasant 7 miles through one of my favorite courses. No music or gps just conversation. The weather was great. Saturday's are turning into my long run days now and hopefully I'll be able to stick with it till the next race.

I ate 3000 calories yesterday and I think it helped me out immensely on my efforts today. Nutrition really needs to become an everyday thing.

Went and drank post run smoothies with V. What a good day!

My shoes have reached their end. Out with the old, in with the new!

April 4th

(nessa) Today was supposed to be a rest day but I felt the urge to run. I thought that if I dressed in something other than workout clothes that I would get over that urge and rest my legs so that I could give 100% tomorrow.
Didn't work. Nick talked me out of running on the treadmill and when I went to the gym I didn't touch the treadmill but I did go on the elliptical for 10 minutes. Harmless. I left and thought that would hold me until our run tomorrow but I was still in my gym clothes, and thought I'd just throw it out there that we could do tomorrows run tonight. after all, it is almost tomorrow.
Nick brought his butt down all the way to Henderson and we drove around in the dark trying to find the towers that I'd run at before.
We parked in the neighborhood nearby because according to Nick, parking at the trailhead on the street is too "suspicious"
The towers are at the top of two steep hills. We ran up and over the the first hill once and then up the first then second hill twice before we called it a night. It was harder than I remember. nick seemed equally as beat up. But I don't think we went as long as we could have. Once we heard a truck behind us, I got too freaked out and nick decided to tell me about hills have eyes and I have a feeling we will be running these hills earlier next time.

April 3rd

(Vanessa) Ran with nick at the 10 mile course that he's been running with red rock running. It was a really good run. Brought ALMOST enough water. Now my legs are going to fall off. Soaked them in Epsom salt and I swear that stuff is magical. The difference was immediately evident.

(Nick) This run was so much more enjoyable at a slower pace! No music or gps, just took to the road. The weather was beautiful, even got a little sunburn on my shoulders. Felt really great after this run today. I need to find shorts with a nice pocket!

April 2nd

(vanessa) Another attempt at 5k started well, I set gps to alert me at 3.1 exactly so I wouldn't have the same mishap as a few days before. I tried a different route but was worried at the halfway point that it may not quite being long enough and that I'd be running in circles towards the end trying to complete the distance. So I added a little turn around and felt like I was just running aimlessly. My shoe became untied and I knew this run was not planned out well. I pressed pause and tied it and then kept going. I finished my 5k running uphill towards my house at a reDONKulously slow pace. I didn't beat my time because I pressed pause to tie my shoe, but I wasn't too beat up about it because this run was all wrong from the beginning.

March 31st

(Vanessa) Saturday morning I decided to drive out to California to take a look at the laguna course. I ran on Huntington beach. It was windy but an overall a nice little trip. I'll be glad to be running somewhere other than Vegas. A little concerned with how many people will be on this small path with us.

(Nick) Met up for a group run with the Red Rock running company this morning at 6:30. It was a very hard run, they had a very quick pace, faster than my last marathon pace. I over dressed in pants and long sleeves, my shoes kept coming untied. Just wasn't a great day for me. I did meet a fellow runner from Cali who I got to talk with and shared the same race time as me, we both felt pretty fatigued running with this group. He talked with me about his training and lots of great food ideas. Running with this group is really going to make me a better runner and I can't wait to get back out there this Saturday. I did however develop diarrhea and horrible stomach cramps after the run. Hopefully wont repeat that again.

March 30th

(Nick) Treadmills always kick my ass. There's never a day when I get off a treadmill and feel good about my fitness level. Ran for 25 minutes alternating every 5 minutes from a 8 flat pace to a 7 flat pace. Very tired afterword. And very sweaty.

Looks like the winds arnt gonna pick up till late tomorrow so my Saturday run is a go! Very excited for tomorrow.

(vanessa) I have been working on my 5k. Today went really well. Ate about 4 hours before which was a good idea because I didn't feel nauseous at all even though I pushed myself so hard. I felt good for most of the run, towards the end I took my gps out to hold it because I couldn't press stop early enough. I pressed it and remembered pretty quickly that although my goal was 3 miles under 30, and I had finished in a little over 29 minutes, I did not set a new record for my 5k and was so annoyed that I hadn't remembered that little fact before I stopped running.

Thursday, March 29, 2012

March 29th

(Nick) So no running today, but I did find an app to help keep my diet on track. It's basically a calorie counter with my target caloric intake being 2800 a day. I found it to be quite fun to try and hit the benchmark, makes me wanna eat. Let's so how it goes!

Went to the gym and I've lost weight down to 131, yikes!

Pretty much hit my goal today. Let's hope I can continue.

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

March 28th

(Nick) Went back to the loop for my start of interval training. Didn't exactly goes as planned as I was still full from dinner and tho I drank what I thought was alot of fluids it wasn't enough. My first mile went great and I decided against the interval and to attack my 5k instead, but at mile two my side ache that I get from being dehydrated put an end to my 5k real quick. Gonna rest up, focus on my diet and hydration and try again soon.

Monday, March 26, 2012

March 26th

(Nick) Met up with Vanessa this afternoon to challenge her 5k record. It was alot colder and windier than I had expected it to be. She mapped a new course for us to try that ended up being pretty cool. She started off really well and by the first mile was at 9:40. At the 2.5 mark she was at a 9:50 but the course turned up hill into the wind and fatigue consumed her. Just a half mile away from her record. We walked it off and then jogged back the remaining two miles to the car.

(Nick) going to make an attempt to set a PR on my 5k and depending how I feel at the 3 mile mark possibly a 10k.

Current Record: 22:43

Well it was an extremely frustrating night. I'm very upset with myself. I started off way to fast and ran out of energy too early on. So I stopped and regrouped and gave it another try only to be too fatigued by the half mile mark. I was pissed off! At that moment I just wanted to give up running entirely. Instead of going home really upset I opted to run two laps and add another 6.5 miles to my day.

I've come to realize that me doing better in this next race isn't going to be dependent so much upon my training but upon my diet. I have no energy, no reserve what so ever to pull from and it's all because of my poor eating habits. It freaking frustrates the hell out of me that I can't even eat three meals a day like normal people. It's so dang discouraging.... I'm thinkin about looking into a diet coach or nutrition counselor or something of the sort that will keep me in check with my eating so I can continue to progress.

All in all a crappy night for running due to something as stupid as not eating enough.

(Vanessa)- Today's run was surprisingly hard. We set out again to do 3 miles I under 30 mins. I spent some time finding what i thought would be an ideal route, and I planned to not stop regardless of how bad it hurt and I couldn't even do that. Super disappointed. 2.25 miles hit and I was so done. I couldn't take the wind and I was so thirsty. Then I was just mad that I'd stopped. Running at a faster pace certainly takes a lot out of me. I know it's not out of reach, it's an easy goal. So it's so embarrassing. Will try again tomorrow.

March 25th

Signed up for our third half marathon today. Laguna Hills Memorial Day Half, May 28th.

Friday, March 23, 2012

March 23rd

(Nick) had plans to break V's 5k record today but running was very difficult. This last race really beat up my legs. We've gone approx 300 miles in our training this far and I've never experienced pain like this. My soleus is in bad shape, I have shin splints in both legs. I really need to take some time off to recover but it very hard when all I want to do is run.

We found a new little strip of road to run on by the library today, it's always fun to find new spots to train. Probably went about 2 miles today, and it hurt. Alot!

I decided to set goals for the year. I want to do the rock and roll in December and hopefully be able to pull a 1:23 and get a qualifying spot for Boston. I need to shave 20 minutes off my time in the next 8 months. First goal is to pull a 17 minute 5k. Then a sub 36 minute 10k. And eventually 10 miles in one hour. They're big goals but it's where I want to be.

(vanessa) Went out to Valle verde library area for what intended to be 3 miles in 30 minutes. It was a rough start and my knee was hurting so the gps and headphones got turned off a quarter mile in. Nick was feeling equally as messed up today and didnt oppose our shortened route. I dont know how fast or far we ran but hopefully the next one wont be as painful. Definitely wasn't a record breaking day. But we did find a new little path that, combined with the path on the other side of green valley, might make for a nice route (rooooot). We found a cool half for may in California. Is it bad that I mostly just want that cool medal at the end?
